Candidates Municipal April 2022 Election Filing Dates
The City of Puxico will have two positions up for election in the April 5, 2022 municipal election — Alderman, Ward 1 (Patti McLean’s position) and Alderman, Ward 2 (Peter Coutavas’ position).
Anyone wishing to run for one of these offices must meet the following qualifications: be at least 21 years of age, be a citizen of the United States, and be an inhabitant and resident of the City for one (1) year preceding his election, and be a resident, at the time he/she files and during the time he/she serves, of the ward from which he/she is elected. The candidate must have all city, county, and state taxes and all bills owed the City paid. Finally, the candidate cannot have been found guilty of or pled guilty to a felony or misdemeanor under federal laws or a felony under the laws of Missouri.
Candidate must file Form 5120 with the Missouri Department of Revenue. This form is a notarized statement showing no taxes are owed. The candidate must also file a “Personal Financial Disclosure Statement” with the Missouri Ethics Committee when he/she fills out the candidacy forms. This statement would show any financial connections with businesses the City might do business with.
Filing to be a candidate in the City’s municipal election begins on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. and end on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 4 p.m. this filing is done with the City Clerk at Puxico City Hall during regular business hours.
