City Municipal Election, Tuesday, April 7, 2026 – Proposition 1

The City of Puxico will be holding its yearly municipal election on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. Voting will take place at the school FEMA building.

The City Board of Aldermen have placed on the ballot Proposition 1 which, if passed, would make the position of marshal (chief of police) an appointed position rather than an elected position. Making it an appointed position, will allow the Board to appoint a qualified person to the position who may live outside the city limits. As an elected position, the City marshal must live within the city limits.

The current City marshal, Rick Sheren, has one more year left on his term of office. If Proposition 1 passes, Sheren will finish out his term of office and the Board would not appoint a marshal until April, 2027.

If anyone has any questions concerning this ballot issue, please contact the city clerk, Alice Patrick, at 573-22-3162.
