The governing body for the City of Puxico consist of an elected mayor and four elected aldermen. The mayor must have lived within the City for at least a year before running for office.
The four members of the Board of Aldermen must also have lived within the City for a year before they can run for the office. The City has two aldermen from Ward 1, which is composed of residents living on the east side of Highway 51 within the city limits, and two aldermen from Ward 2, which is composed of residents living on the west side of Highway 51 within the city limits.
The Board of Aldermen meet on the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at Puxico City Hall to discuss City matters and make decisions concerning City activities, ordinances, and other rules and regulations.
The current mayor is Rick McLean. The aldermen from Ward 1 are Patti McLean and Jeff Thomas and the aldermen from Ward 2 are Peter Coutavas and Harlan Lamb.
