Park Picnic Tables Thru DNR Grant

Recently, the City of Puxico received a “Scrap Tire Surface Material Grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Waste Management Program in the amount of $23,164.

The money from this grant was used to purchase 20 picnic tables and 4 park benches made of recycled scrap tire materials. If you happen to go by Memorial (South) Park or Houck Park, you wee these tables and benches under the pavilions. Veteran’s Park has two picnic tables that were placed on a concrete pad attached to the sidewalk that runs from the First Midwest Bank over to the bridge over the ditch on E.L. Hawks Street.

this grant, put together by Alderwoman Patti McLean, uses the materials from scrap tires in a beneficial way. Not only does it take harmful materials out of the environment, but it also brings beautiful picnic tables that can be used every day by those who visit the City’s parks.

The City of Puxico is very grateful to have received this grant from the Department of Natural Resources and thanks the Department for allowing the City to make its parks a better place for friends and families to gather.
